GENERAL INFORMATION |  Through a cooperative effort, the Town of Fishers & the Fishers Historic Preservation Committee renovated the second oldest home in Hamilton County. In 1996, the house was moved from its original location to Heritage Park. In 1999, the house received National Register of Historic Places status as the West-Harris House. The building is referred to as the Ambassador House for its most prominent resident, Addison Harris, who served as Ambassador to the Austrian-Hungarian Empire during the McKinley Administration.

WORK SCOPE | Jacobs Pannicke Architects now known as ARCHitecture trio, inc. led a design team in integrating museum & community meeting space within the house. In order to provide handicap accessibility to all levels, a small elevator was incorporated into the design with minimal impact to the historic floor plan.

A cost magnitude & a phased plan was developed for fundraising with additional monies supplied by the Town. When funding was available, the design team revisited the Construction Documents to ensure all information was still pertinent. Drawings & Specifications were updated to incorporate changes brought about by the passage of time. Also, the site plans were developed to include new walkways & patio. All work was completed in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation.
