Located on the historic Lawton Loop in Fort Benjamin Harrison, Building 662 formerly housed officer’s quarters prior to the Army closing the base in 1995. The Fort Harrison Re-Use Authority acquired the property at this time. As part of the transfer process, covenants were placed on the contributing buildings by the State Historic Preservation Office in order to preserve their historic character.

Jacobs Pannicke Architects, Inc. now known as ARCHitecture trio, inc. provided the developer with a complete renovation design package including evaluation of the historic fabric and redesign of the existing efficiency units into four market-rate luxury condominiums. Retention of the historic fabric and the sympathetic adaptive use of the interior spaces were priorities. The building features a T-shaped plan with a central circulation core, two-story columned front portico and decorative interior details. The creation of a free-standing garage structure and a landscape layout were also included as part of the project.

State Historic Preservation Office was consulted with for compliance with the covenants and also obtained a Construction Design Release from the State Building Commissioner. Hoffman Engineers, Inc. acted as the structural engineer on Building 662 with Swanson Outdoor Design aiding in the landscape design. Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing were design-build. Construction Administration services were also provided.
