GENERAL INFORMATION | Since 1996, Coburn Place Safe Haven has provided secure & affordable housing as well as supportive services to women & children who are homeless due to leaving abusive situations. The former Indianapolis Public School 66 is a National Register property which provides its current residents with a safe environment.

As Coburn Place grew, new staff & functions were placed in any available space. This led to a disjointed & inefficient layout. The first & second levels possesses offices, storage & specialized activity rooms while the third floor Community Room is used for most resident functions including group meals, support group meetings, counseling sessions, training & education, & as an indoor play/learning lounge for the children.

WORK SCOPE |  ARCHitecture trio, inc. to was selected by Coburn Place to complete a phased design for updating the facility’s spaces with some well needed exterior upgrades. The renovation program was based on user group interviews. The lower level spaces were reorganized to provide a logical & efficient configuration. The Community Room is now used for multiple activities featuring movable partitions that allow for easy reconfiguration of the space, new finishes with more functional & durable furnishings.
