GENERAL INFORMATION | In 2009, Partners In Housing Development Corporation (PIHDC) acquired the Crown Pointe Apartments, a 1920s 3-story brick building containing 40 efficiency & one-bedroom apartments. Located by the historic Crown Hill Cemetery, these apartments continue PIHDC’s efforts to provide affordable housing to individuals & families that would otherwise been left homeless while providing a safe environment by renovating underutilized historic buildings.

EXTERIOR WORK SCOPE | The exterior had withstood the destructive forces of time, weather & inappropriate tuck-pointing. ARCHitecture trio, inc. conducted a thorough & systematic field survey to evaluate the condition of the masonry & identify locations requiring tuck-pointing, lintel replacement & devised a new metal coping system for the parapet wall. Construction Documents were prepared & Construction Administration services were provided to ensure conformance of new materials & techniques with historic masonry.

INTERIOR WORK SCOPE | Apartments were individually inventoried with recommendations devised for each unit to upgrade finishes & create a more efficient kitchen layout while retaining historic cabinetry. A community room, computer lab & office were designed for the lower level.
