GENERAL INFORMATION | Located in the historic core of downtown Lawrenceburg, these buildings are believed to be two of the oldest brick structures in the city. A devastating fire on December 25, 2000, resulted in potential demolition. The City of Lawrenceburg & Indiana Landmarks intervened to restore & preserve these historic structures.
WORK SCOPE | Renovation plans for market-rate housing units were completed. Phase 1 included repairing & securing the exterior envelope including a new roof along with removal of fire damaged materials. Due to the accumulation of hazardous molds, the buildings were completely cleaned of all contaminates by an environmental specialist. Phase 2 entailed the restoration. Structural & exterior repairs were addressed, including the wood windows. The interior received new finishes to create updated living units that respect the historic fabric. Character defining features were retained & restored. Necessary materials were presented to the State Preservation Review Board for their consideration & approval. Construction Administration services were also provided throughout the renovation.
