This Carriage House was originally constructed in 1892 as part of the magnificent Romanesque Revival Mansion complex on Delaware Street in the Old Northside Historic District. Since 1924, the property has been in the hands of Indianapolis Propylaeum, a literary & social club for women. The Mansion was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 along with the Carriage House, which functioned as the first Children's Museum in Indianapolis.
In 2005, Jacobs Pannicke Architects, Inc. (JPA) produced Schematic Design drawings to relocate their offices. JPA staff performed all labor including reworking existing Electrical & Plumbing systems to bring their designs to fruition. Modern amenities were sensitively added to provide telecommunications capabilities in this historic building while the character of the space was not only retained but enhanced.
