GENERAL INFORMATION | Thomas Taggart loomed large over progressive politics & civic improvements of Indianapolis at the beginning of the last century. His legacy was recognized by his peers who built this Memorial in his honor in Riverside Park as an enduring gift to the citizens of Indianapolis. The memorial, a limestone edifice with fountain bowl welcomes guests at the park entrance located at the terminus of Burdsal Parkway – a grand boulevard with esplanade. The memorial has suffered greatly from minimal maintenance & vandalism. It currently resides within a fenced enclosure inaccessible to the public.

The Memorial now requires a substantial renovation / restoration that demands an equal measure of respect & love once so visibly demonstrated by a grateful community. The City of Indianapolis Department of Parks & Recreation (INDY Parks) along with the City of Indianapolis’ Administration wished to make restoration of the Memorial a priority.

WORK SCOPE | Jacobs Pannicke Architects now known as ARCHitecture trio, inc. along with our consultants completed a Scoping Document for the Memorial which examined the existing condition & provided recommendations along with a cost magnitude for the restoration of the memorial. Accessibility issues, site/memorial lighting, interpretive graphics /sculpture were also part of the document. The report will utilized as a guide for the completion of Construction Documents & fundraising. Construction Administration services will be provided.
