The United Community Bank (UCB) solidified its support for the City of Lawrenceburg both symbolically and literally by relocating its headquarters along with a bank branch into the historic Jesse Hunt Hotel. This building has a contributing designation within the Downtown Lawrenceburg Historic District, which is listed on the National Register. The Jesse Hunt Hotel is recognized as the oldest, three-story, brick commercial building in the State of Indiana. The building was named for Jesse Hunt (1787-1863) who invented the hay press and was a pioneer in the hay trade. In addition to running the hotel for nearly 30 years, Hunt was an influential member of the Lawrenceburg community.

The United Community Bank selected Jacobs Pannicke Architects, Inc. now known as ARCHitecture trio, inc. to develop a program to relocate bank facilities to the building with the remaining space available for commercial lease. Although most of the building’s exterior was rehabilitated during an earlier restoration effort, the interior required significant structural improvements. The interior renovation retained the original central corridor and staircase along with other character-defining features. Accessibility requirements were met by the addition of an elevator and other improvements. In addition to the interior build-out, A sympathetic drive-thru canopy was also included in the project design.

Multiple programming options were developed with cost estimates that ultimately resulted in the most feasible solution to meet the bank’s needs. Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Applications and  Section 106 Review was also part of the services provided.

This project was carried out under ARCHitecture trio's former company name Jacobs Pannicke Architects, Inc.
