Kinser Flats

Kinser Flats was developed as a 50-unit apartment complex to designed to provide safe, affordable, permanent supportive housing and onsite recovery focused support services for families and individuals with mental health and substance use disorders who are experiencing homelessness, a first of its kind in Indiana.

The design team was challenged with specific program goals to achieve on an extremely restrictive site.  The new building is four levels and includes 38 one-bedroom units and 12 two-bedroom units. The innovative plan design provides light-filled, modern interiors with user friendly amenities close to common interior children’s play areas, conference and meeting rooms and community activity spaces.  The exterior presents a lively arrangement of colorful panels and stone finishes. Its proximity within the urban-scape provides easy access to public transportation, shopping and other needed services.
